Group Counselor
 - Openings Available!
Job Overview
As a Group Counselor your primary goal is to create a memorable and meaningful camp experience for your campers. Our Counselors interact with our campers throughout the entire day, helping them create friendships and participate in new activities. The role of a Group Counselor is to be engaged, care for their camper's well-being, and have fun while ensuring the physical and emotional safety of every child.

What are the duties and responsibilities of a Group Counselor?

• Greet families and campers upon arrival.
• Manage daily attendance for their group. Always keep track of camper whereabouts throughout the day.
• Follow the daily schedule. Escort campers between activity areas in a safe and timely manner.
• Lead activities with small or large groups of campers and make sure all group members are involved.
• Organize team sports and games. This includes defining and explaining rules as well as overseeing the game to facilitate fair play.
• Participate in all camp activities.
• Support and assist activity specialists when needed.
• Be an advocate for camp rules and traditions.
• Be knowledgeable of camper medical needs as described on camp “Alert List”.
• Check on campers with medical needs and escort them to the medical suite if needed.
• Recognize a camper that may have a mental or physical health issue.
• Supervise organization and cleanliness of group cabin. Make sure campers are always supervised while in the group cabin.
• Communicate effectively and respectfully with fellow counselors, directors, and other staff members. This may be via “walkie-talkie” or in-person.
• Arrive to camp on time and properly prepared for the day’s activities.
• Adapt to small changes in the daily schedule or assigned group of campers.
• Support Camp Director in establishing and implementing rules and emergency procedures with campers.
• Help where needed and lead activities when asked to by the Camp Director.

What qualifications do I need to be a Group Counselor?

• Entering first year of college, or equivalent
• CPR/First Aid Certified or willing to become certified before the summer begins preferred
• Previous experience as Camp Counselor or similar role working with children preferred
• Familiarity with various outdoor activities and sports
• Organizational and communication skills

As a Lifeguard/Swim Instructor your primary goal is to create a safe environment for campers at the pool. Anglewood Lifeguards/Swim Instructors do not only monitor pool activities, but they are also expected and encouraged to interact with campers. The role of a Lifeguards/Swim Instructor is to be engaged, care for their camper's well-being, and have fun while ensuring the physical and emotional safety of every child.

What are the duties and responsibilities of a Lifeguard/Swim Instructor?

• Ensure the safety of all campers and staff
• Must be a team player
• Extremely vigilant with eyes on the pool at all times
• Consistently enforces pool rules
• Monitor campers in the pool
• Provide assistance and prevent accidents
• Support and assist swim instruction during swim lessons
• Lead and assist pool games and activities
• Knowledgeable about the “Alert List” and campers that require special medical attention
• Make sure everyone is involved in having fun. 
• Show enthusiasm when working with campers. Have a king and friendly attitude. Be approachable.

General Maintenance Assistant

Job Overview

As a General Maintenance Assistant(GMA) your primary goal is to support the daily operations of the summer camp program. The GMA is responsible for camp cleanliness and restocking supplies so that routine operations run smoothly. As a member of camp staff, it is encouraged that the GMA is also engaged, cares for the well-being of all campers, and has fun while ensuring the physical and emotional safety of every child.

What are the duties and responsibilities of a General Maintenance Assistant?

• Collecting and transporting trash to dumpster
• Sweeping flag stone paths (bottom of cabin path, water station, etc.)
• Transporting drinks/juice boxes to storage locations
• Cleaning restrooms and restocking consumable items (toilet paper, hand soap, etc.)
• Manage camp laundry (towels, lost & found items, etc.) 
• Supporting weekly BBQ activities
   - Setting up charcoal BBQ stations. Placing condiments, BBQ supplies, etc.
   - Assisting with BBQ grill start-up
   - Clean-up BBQ stations, wash cooking utensils
• Distribute ice to all coolers around camp in AM
• Monitor cooler condition and add ice as needed
• Sweep cabins and monitor for cleanliness; clean as necessary
• Clean-up kitchen as needed
• Clean coolers as needed
• Pick-up trash, replace trash bags in trash cans as needed
• Check hand sanitizers in bathrooms, BBQ, nurse suite, kitchen, etc. and refill as necessary

What qualifications do I need to be an General Maintenance Assistant?

• Previous janitorial or facilities maintenance experience preferred
• Previous experience working with children or working at a childcare or educational facility preferred
